BAR ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOHN CRUMP FEATURED ON
COVER OF SUCCESSFUL MEETINGS MAGAZINE
Washington,
DC. National Bar Association’s Executive Director, John
Crump is featured on the cover of the June 2005 issue of
“Successful Meetings Magazine.” “Successful Meetings Magazine”
is one of the leading international publications for the
meetings and hospitality industry. The cover story, entitled
“True Colors” addresses the claims of diversity in the hospitality
industry. Crump is recognized as one of the foremost experts
on the subject of diversity in the hospitality industry.
Crump is immediate past chairman of the National Coalition
of Black Meeting Planners (NCBMP), and a former vice president
of American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). He
is also recognized as one of the top most influential persons
in the hospitality industry.
According
to Crump, assertions about diversity in the hospitality
industry are more myth than reality.

INTERNATIONAL AFFILIATES MEETING UNDERWAY
Washington, DC, (6/2/05) The 2005 National Bar Association
(NBA) International Affiliates meeting officially began
today. Over 65 NBA delegates lead by President Kim Keenan
are on their way to convene with colleagues representing
various aspects of the Spanish legal system.
The thirteen day excursion includes professional development
seminars that will be delivered jointly with Spanish lawyers,
meetings with Spanish judges, state department briefings
given by representatives of the US Embassy, discussion forums
with representatives of the Barcelona and Madrid bar associations,
a visit to the Spanish Constitutional Court (e.g., Supreme
Court) and a special meeting with the first female Chief
Justice of the Constitutional Court in Spanish history.
Tour
sites include Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Marbella, Granada,
Malaga, and Tenerife (Canary Islands). The full delegation
is due to return on June 14, 2005.

The
NBA Women Lawyers' Division wishes to invite all members
of the NBA who have not been admitted to the Bar of the
U.S. Supreme Court to participate in its Annual Supreme
Court Swearing-In Ceremony on May 31, 2005.
This
Ceremony is held annually in an effort to enhance the posture
of African American lawyers as legal advocates and to increase
the number of minority lawyers who are fully equipped to
handle legal affairs for their clients before this nation's
highest court.

(NBA) and legal profession mourn the loss of one of the
greatest lawyers and humanitarians of this modern era. “The
death of Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. is a loss to the entire
legal profession. Cochran was an assuring presence of justice
for the image and integrity of the legal profession for
all. He brought great credibility to the profession and
symbolized opportunity for equal justice for many people,
particularly people of color, - not just in America but

BAR ASSOCIATION TO PARTICIPATE IN 8TH ANNUAL WALL STREET
PROJECT CONFERENCE
New
York, NY- NBA President Kim M. Keenan will speak at the
8th Annual Rainbow/PUSH Wall Street Project Conference,
which will be held on January 11-13, 2005 at the Hilton
New York Hotel in New York City. The theme for this year's
conference is "Beyond Diversity, Equity and Parity: A New
Covenant." President Keenan will participate in the Legal
Counsel Roundtable Discussion on how major corporations
can work more closely with minority and women-owned law
firms and lawyers. Additionally, Keenan will participate
on the "How to Become a Person of Influence" panel with
Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban
League, and Terrie Williams, author and President of the
Terrie Williams Agency.

CRUMP PASSES NCBMP TORCH
On
November 19, 2004, John Crump, JD, CMP, CAE will step down
as Chairman of the National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners
and become Chairman Emeritus. Crump became Chairman of NCBMP
in 1993 and has held the post for eleven consecutive years.
During his tenure, NCBMP has moved to new heights. NCBMP
is recognized as the leading source for information and
the development of blacks in the hospitality industry. Crump
is lauded for his leadership and vision on the NCBMP Board.
Crump's widespread popularity and recognition in the hospitality

Friday, October 15, 2004, the United States District Court
for the District of Massachusetts will celebrate twenty-five
years of service by the Honorable Joyce London Alexander
who became the first African American woman Magistrate Judge
in the nation’s history when she was sworn in on August
6, 1979. Alexander also became the first African American
Chief United States Magistrate Judge on January 2, 1996
and the first African American woman chief judge of any
court in Massachusetts. The ceremony will highlight the
unveiling of her portrait which will be presented by her

September 10, 2004- Yesterday, National Bar Association
President Kim M. Keenan participated on a congressional
braintrust of professionals addressing the legal ramifications
of the lack of access to health care within African American
communities. The panel was convened by Congresswoman Sheila
Jackson Lee (D-TX) as part of the 34th Annual Congressional
Black Caucus Legislative Conference held September 8 – 11,
2004 in Washington, D.C. Keenan joined medical professionals
in addressing how African Americans and other minorities
receive substandard care and very little preventative care.
