  Law Camp Commences 5th Year of Educating Minority Youth

Washington, DC……. The National Bar Association Crump Law Camp has accepted 32 high school students for its intense two week long program at Howard University from July 9 - 22, 2006.

These students will be flown in from various cities and receive both a social and academic agenda for the Washington, DC area. Their calendar will include attending classes instructed by professors and deans from the NBA Law Professors Division, and having members of the NBA Law Students Division serve as teaching assistants and student monitors.   JUDGE THELMA WYATT CUMMINGS MOORE RECEIVES THE THURGOOD MARSHALL AWARD

Atlanta Daily World reports that Fulton County Superior Court Judge Thelma Wyatt Cummings Moore was recently presented the Thurgood Marshall Award at the 36th Annual National Bar Association Judicial Council Luncheon held in Detroit, Michigan as part of the NBA's 81st Annual Convention. CORPORATE COUNSEL ELECTED PRESIDENT-ELECT
OF NATIONAL BAR ASSOCIATION

Washington, DC (September 5, 2006) …Vanita Banks, Counsel, Allstate Insurance Company, Northbrook, Illinois, was sworn in as President-Elect of the National Bar Association (NBA) on August 11, 2006. Banks is only the second female attorney from corporate America to be elected as NBA President since the organization was founded in 1925.

  FLORIDA LITIGATOR NAMED NATIONAL BAR ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT

Linnes Finney Jr., a partner in the national law firm of Gary, Williams, Parenti, Finney, Lewis, McManus ,Watson & Sperando, was sworn in as the 64th president of the National Bar Association.

University of Colorado Law School prepares for move to new Wolf Law Building; Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to deliver keynote address

BOULDER, Colo.-The Colorado Law School will officially dedicate the new Wolf Law Building on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus on September 8, 2006. Never before has an entire campus student body voted to tax themselves to build a new law school because of a lack of financial support from the state. The Law School announces that Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer will attend the dedication and deliver the keynote address.

  BEN CRUMP SUES FLORIDA STATE AGENCIES FOR $40 MILLION AFTER DEATH OF TEEN

Washington, DC (July 28, 2006) …... NBA lifetime member and past board of governors member Benjamin L. Crump is seeking more than $40 million in damages from the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Bay County Sheriff's Office on behalf of the family of Martin Lee Anderson, who died just hours after being manhandled by guards at a juvenile boot camp.
