KEENAN MEETS WITH PRESIDENT OF MADRID BAR ASSOCIATION

DC Monday, March 7, 2005, NBA President Kim Keenan along
with NBA Staff Associate Maurice Foster met with the President
Luis Marti Mingarro of the Madrid (Spain) Bar Association.
The meeting was arranged by the NBA in anticipation of the
upcoming NBA International Affiliates Meeting which will
be held in Spain June 2-14, 2005. Mr. Marti Mingarro arranged
to meet with Ms. Keenan in Washington, DC during a brief
visit to the United States.
Mr.
Marti Mingarro pledged the support of the Madrid Bar Association
to the NBA International Meeting. Founded in 1596, the Madrid
Bar has over 40,000 members and is the largest bar association
in Spain. Mr. Marti Mingarro is also president of the Latin
American Union of Bar Associations. The meeting was his
first introduction to the NBA. Other Bar groups include
the Spanish Bar Association and Barcelona Bar Association.
The
National Bar Association, founded in 1925, is the nation's
oldest and largest association of attorney's of color, representing
a professional network of over 20,000 lawyers, judges, educators
and law students.
