LONG-TIME
NBA MEMBER RUNS FOR PRESIDENT-ELECT OF DC BAR
Devarieste
Curry, a long-time member of the National Bar Association,
is running for President-elect of the DC Bar and seeks the
support of any National Bar member who also is a member
of the DC Bar. Devarieste has a long history of service
to the DC Bar and several voluntary bar associations, including
chapters of the NBA. She has participated in various NBA
programs and, in fact, helped revitalize the Environmental
Law Section in the 1980's.
Devarieste
has been endorsed by 16 past Presidents of the DC Bar, and
a number of other Bar and national leaders, including Elaine
Jones and Mary Frances Berry. They endorsed her because
of her Bar experience and service to the Bar, her legal
experience, and her commitment to the Bar and public interest
work. Devarieste has served in leadership positions in the
DC Bar for over 13 years, including serving on its Board
of Governors and on committees covering every facet of the
Bar's operations and service to members. She is the only
candidate that has such in-depth Bar experience, and she
knows and works well with the Bar staff and leadership.
She has over 23 years experience practicing law, with a
focus on complex commercial litigation, non-profit counseling,
and employment law. Devarieste is committed to pro bono
and has been a cooperating attorney with the NAACP Legal
Defense Fund for years.
