"The Little Rock Nine" Honored At The 2006 Wiley A. Branton Awards Luncheon

On Friday, November 3, 2006 at 12:00 noon, the National Bar Association honored "The Little Rock Nine" during the Wiley A. Branton Awards Luncheon. This took place during the NBA's Eighteenth Annual Wiley A. Branton Issues Symposium & Award Luncheon, held at The Peabody Little Rock from Wednesday, November 1 through Sunday, November 5, 2006.

Honorable Wiley A. Branton, Jr., son of Wiley A. Branton, Jr., gave a moving tribute to his father that received a standing ovation. He recounted the many hardships his father encountered as a civil rights lawyer in the South, and his devotion to equality and justice. Wiley A. Branton, Jr. served as the principal lawyer for the 1957 Little Rock desegregation case.
